Testing Engineer (Nijmegen)

Alfa Laval Nijmegen BV develops, sells and produces equipment for the maritime industry. Alfa Laval Nijmegen BV is the global market leader for Inert Gas Systems and Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems. Our customers are ship owners and yards worldwide.

To reduce pollution, from the 1st of January 2020 new environmental regulation comes into force. This regulation requires all ships to use fuels with a maximum Sulphur content of 0,5% or to use an Exhaust Gas Cleaning System to reduce their Sulphur emission. It’s a fast-growing business.

About the Job
To control and test end products (complete systems and components) based on technical- and system specifications. To check if the systems are working according to customer requirements, ship classification rules and the companies quality standards.

• Coordinates activities during test set up
• Check the completeness of the total test installation based on drawings, schemes and technical specifications
• Test complete systems or parts according test protocol
• Check in- and output of the PLC, loading PLC programs and runs the testing of alarms as well in the functional test- as in the running test mode
• Take care of acceptance trials for international customers, ship owners and classification bureaus
• Detect mechanical-, process-, electrical- and programming faults and malfunctioning, solve them or advice possible solutions to Engineering during test phase
• Document test results (measurements, adjustments, procedures and recommendations) based on test protocols, internal instructions and check lists
• Release system/part if test is satisfactory

Who you are

• MBO+ or HBO level mechanical/electrical engineering
• At least 2 years experience in maintenance and/or testing
• Broad and proven knowledge of applied processes such as electrics/electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC programs, pumps, dryers, blowers, coolers etc.
• Good knowledge of geometric measurement and applicable safety standards and procedures
• Good oral communication skills in English and Dutch
• You like the challenge to work in a multi-disciplinary team in an international environment
